"Greg is a very talented illustrator. He did a good job interpreting the story."

Assaff Rawner

I’ve been drawing for as long as I can remember. Growing up in Wales meant plenty of rainy days, and I spent most of them doodling quirky characters on whatever scraps of paper I could find, or getting lost in the illustrations of the books at home and in our tiny village library.

On the rare sunny days, I’d be out exploring the countryside with my siblings—climbing, splashing, wandering, and collecting the kind of memories that still sneak their way into my work today.

I kept drawing throughout my teens and eventually headed to art college in Cardiff. After a year there, I decided to follow my love of movement and storytelling into animation, studying at what is now the Arts University Bournemouth under the guidance of Professor Peter Parr. After graduating, I built a career in animation, working on two series for Chinese State TV that reached an audience of 40 million viewers.

In 2007, I founded Planet Sunday, a boutique animation studio that went on to produce award‑winning content for TV, DVD, and YouTube for over a decade.

During this time, I also had the joy of creating 45 music videos for bands and artists whose audiences were primarily children. We were given complete creative freedom to invent stories and characters to accompany each song, and this quickly became my favourite part of the process.

Crafting little narratives that could spark a child’s imagination felt like a natural extension of the storytelling I’d always loved.

One of our proudest moments was coming runner‑up to Nickelodeon’s Dora the Explorer for Best App Series for Pre‑Schoolers at the 2014 Kidscreen Awards.

In 2016, after an incredible run, I decided to close the studio and return to my first love: illustration.

Through all of this, children’s books have always been my constant. I’m still creating characters with a bit of cheekiness, plenty of heart, and emotionally safe personalities that young readers can truly connect with. Here on my website, you’ll find a portfolio shaped by imagination, childhood adventures, and the landscapes and wildlife of Wales that continue to inspire me every day.
